Myrtle Beach Boardwalk

Sun , sand , towering resort hotels , the bustling boardwalk , the awe-inspiring Myrtle Beach-this is one beach party you don’t want to miss . Few oceanfront sights are as well loved as a Boardwalk teaming with families , cotton candy , hot dogs , and amusement park rides . Nothing says “summer” quite like a visit to an iconic seaside boardwalk ; in fact , great songs have been written in its honor . For many years , Myrtle Beach’s boardwalk was not up to the standards of a world-class vacation destination such as Myrtle Beach deserved . All that changed in 2008 when the city of Myrtle Beach announced plans to develop what is now more than a mile of oceanfront boardwalk . In May , 2010 , the Boardwalk and Promenade opened to great public funfare . It was again expanded northward in 2013 , and is part of an ongoing revitalization of the downtown Myrtle beach oceanfront . The award-winning Boardwalk stretches form the 2nd Ave Pier to just north of the 14th Ave Pier . MBB ( Myrtle Beach Boardwalk ) features three different sections .

The first section , the North Walkway , extends from the 14th Avenue North Pier to Plyler Park at the foot of Mr. Joe White Avenue . It features a raised wooden deck , with dune landscaping and vegetation , to create a serene , peaceful and natural environment and beach experience . The walkway in this section is eight feet wide with connecting pathways to the beach access points . The SkyWheel holds command over the MBB as the dominant amusement ride , but just across Ocean Boulevard , the Slingshot sits waiting for the truly adventurous . Other amusements on or near the Boardwalk include : Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum , Ripley’s 5-D Moving Theater , and Ripley’s Haunted Adventure .

Dominating the skyline in downtown Myrtle Beach since 2011 , the 187-foot tall SkyWheel , was , at the time of its completion , the second tallest observation Ferris Wheel in the United States . Visible from miles , especially at night with its elaborate light show , the SkyWheel places riders , up to six at a time , in climate-controlled glass pods , called “gondolas” for a slow , spectacular spin over the Boardwalk on the oceanfront .

The second section , the high-intensity portion of the boardwalk , extends from Plyler Park to Eighth Avenue North . This section adjoins beachfront stores and shops and invokes a carnival and nostalgia atmosphere with its sights , sounds and energy . This section ranges from 26 to 50 feet in width and features sidewalk cafes , arcades , amusements and more . If you can’t find it on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk , you don’t need it ! Besides dozens of restaurants , you’ll find souvenier shops , beachwear stores and more , all conveniently located somewhere along the 1.2-mile Boardwalk . The undisputed heart & amp ; soul of Boardwalk stores is the Gay Dolphin Gift Cove , family owned and operated at the same location since 1946 . Don’t miss it !
Also some of the top rated seafood buffet restaurants in Myrtle Beach are located just in couple miles radius from MBB . One of those is Seafood World Seafood and Steak Buffet , serving fresh local calabash style seafood and it’s Signature All You Can Eat Alaskan Crab Legs . Don’t miss that either .

The third and final section , the South Promenade , continues from Eighth Avenue North to First Avenue North , just south of the Second Avenue Pier . The South Promenade will be a lineal park promenade with benches and natural landscaping featuring everybody’s loved Starbucks Café , right on Fifth Ave. , in Bay View Resort …
